WOLF CREEK BRIDGE REOPENS

Wolf Creek Bridge, on Highway 36 is open to all lanes of traffic.

According to Bobby Colwell of the Texas Department of Transportation, construction at the bridge was completed earlier this week, and the bridge was open to all lanes in all directions, Wednesday.

Storm damage from Hurricane Harvey was repaired on the bridge late last year.  Work to repair damage from the May 2016 flood then began several weeks later.

The bridge had been open to two lanes after the damage from Harvey was repaired.

According to Colwell, pilings underneath the Wolf Creek Bridge were heavily damaged by flooding in May 2016, as debris was swept down the creek.

The project took about four-and-a-half months to complete—approximately one month ahead of schedule.

Damage to the pilings under the bridge caused by storm debris from the May 2016 flooding.

  1. Bigger bridge, more traffic, less construction time; compared to: Brenham’s 2 puny bridges with less traffic. Good Job TXDOT !
