BUILDING PERMITS DOWN

  

Building permits were down sharply in Brenham for the month of October.

The city issued 24 permits for a total of $558,426 last month.  That was down from the September total of $1.1 million.  The city has issued $29.6 million in permits so far this year but most of that was the construction of the new Alton Elementary School and renovations of the Brenham Middle School.  That’s a total of $26 million.

It was that school construction that led the way for the building permits in October.  The biggest permits issued was for $195,000 for a new sprinkler system for the Brenham Middle School at 1600 South Blue Bell Road.
