DAVIS V. ABBOTT PRO LIFE

The first controversies are emerging in next year’s race for Texas governor.

Democratic Candidate, Ft.  Worth State Senator Wendy Davis is drawing the ire from her likely Republican opponent, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott,  because she is describing herself as being ‘pro-life.’

Davis rose to national prominence with her 13 hour filibuster against extensive new abortion restrictions in a special session of the state Legislature in the summer.  Abbott ‘s campaign says the campaign slogan is ‘disingenuous’.  His campaign also says she is ‘outside the mainstream of Texas in her points of view.’

The Ft. Worth Democrat says however, the label means she cares about every child that goes to bed without a proper education, every child that goes to bed without being able to take part in the ‘Texas dream’ and every  woman and man who worry about their children’s future and the ability to provide for that future.’

Both candidate’s will have to get through their respective parties primary in March before their likely matchup in November.
