ANIMAL SHELTER UPDATE

  

The Brenham City Council realized some time ago that the animal shelter has outlasted its useful life and the city needs a new one.

When the City Council meets  today (Thursday) they will get an update from Brenham Police Chief Rex Phelps from the Animal Shelter Task Force and the possible location for a new shelter.  Chief Phelps says however, the shelter needs a new emphasis and a new name, the Brenham Adoption and Care Center.

Chief Phelps says they want people to know that the shelter is not ‘the pound’ when stray, uncontrollable or perhaps unwanted animals go to be caged and then ‘put to sleep.’\
