OSHA SEEKING ANSWERS IN KYLE FIELD DEATH

Twenty-five year old Angel Garcia died at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan after he fell from the fourth level at the north end of Kyle Field at 11:25 Tuesday morning.  Garcia was a demolition worker on the project.

According to KBTX in Bryan, Garcia was an employee of Lindamood Demolition out of Irving, Texas.

Investigators from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are on the scene trying to find out why he fell.

Work came to a halt Tuesday morning at the $450 million renovation of Kyle Field.  The site was shut down as the investigation into the incident continued.  The Texas A&M website shut down its cameras showing the progress of the construction.

Steve Moor, Vice-Chancellor of Marketing and Communications for the Texas A&M System, would not disclose details on how the accident happened or say much about the victim in a brief news conference.

It is now unclear how the incident will impact the timeline for construction at the stadium.

Texas A&M President R. Bowen Loftin issued a statement saying: “On behalf of Texas A&M University and the extended Aggie family, I offer our deepest sympathy to the family of the construction worker who tragically passed away.”
