DEADLY FIRE RULED AN ACCIDENT

  

The deadly fire that raged through a Brenham home Sunday morning was an accident.  The fire killed 88-year old Jesse Randle when his home in the 900 block of West Mansfield erupted into flames at 8:22am.

Brenham Fire Marshal Alan Finke  released a statement this (Tuesday) afternoon, that based on the autopsy results from the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office,  Mr. Randle died as a result of exposure to heat and smoke.

Finke went on to say that based on burn patterns and fire debris, along with witness statements the fire began in the kitchen and most likely caused by an electric space heater too close to combustible materials.  He ruled the fire accidental.

The Brenham Fire Marshall’s office conducted the investigation.

The State Fire Marshall’s office requested a canine team to help with finding and identifying potential areas where flammable liquids may have been present but none were found.

The Brenham and Blinn Police Departments assisted in fighting the fire and investigating its cause.  They most importantly provided scene security and the identification of the victim.
