THEFTS, DRUGS AND BURGLARIES KEEP BRENHAM POLICE BUSY THIS WEEKEND

Thefts, burglaries and drug possession cases kept the Brenham police department very busy this past weekend.

Two 21-year olds from Montgomery were arrested for theft of property and possession of dangerous drugs Friday evening after an incident at Appel Ford in the 1800 block of Highway 290.

Holly Nicole Diehl and Isaiah Rashud Holmes were arrested after Brenham police officer David Dudenhoeffer found them on the sales lot just past six pm.  An employee reported his wallet stolen while trying to sell a vehicle.  The employee had left her office momentarily and when she came back her wallet was gone.  The wallet was recovered in the women’s restroom but $25 was missing.  Officer Dudenhoeffer searched the subjects.  Officer Dudenhoeffer also found several prescription medications on Diehl that she didn’t have prescriptions for.  She was arrested for theft and possession of dangerous drugs while Holmes was arrested for theft.

Officer Jonathan Phipps was called to the Brenham Food Stop in the 1300 block of Prairie Lea after a worker there reported a theft of about $1200 and several small items..  She was gone to a restroom for less than a minute but she heard a noise.  She came out to find lighters and changed scattered across the floor and the cash register stolen.  Officer David Dudenhoeffer found a trail of change leading out of the store to the business next door. Police are reviewing a surveillance videos and are searching for a suspect.

A Brenham couple were leaving their business in the 2100 block of South Market Friday night when they found the passenger side window of their car shattered. The woman’s purse was missing.  At 11:10 pm communications advised that a person was at the front desk of the police department saying they wanted to turn in a purse found in the J.C. Penny’s Parking lot.  The victim’s driver’s license and credit cards were still in the purse but the cash was gone.  About $40 was taken.

A 27-year old Brenham man was arrested just past midnight Saturday on drug possession and evading arrest charges after  he sped away from a traffic stop.  Officer Justin Schiller pursued Kenneth Brooks Helmer after he revved his dirt bike very loudly on East Main. Schiller found the motorcycle racing south bound on S. Baylor.  He tried to catch up as he topped the hill on South Baylor.  The biker then failed to stop at a stop sign at East Germania before he turned right on South Market.  The motorcyclist kept going even though Schiller activated his police lights.  Schiller even rolled down his window and demanded he stop.  He finally did.  Officer Schiller search Helmer and found methamphetamines  and drug paraphernalia.

Two people were arrested for possessing methamphetamines, and marijuana after a Brenham police officer was called to the Brenham Wal-Mart for a criminal trespass violation.    Twenty-seven year old Krystal Hope Counterman had been warned to stay away from Wal-Mart because she was suspect in a theft case. When Officer David Dudenhoeffer questioned her she seemed very nervous.  He asked her if she had anything illegal on her and she replied yes..  A search of her car found a small amount of marijuana and a small amount of meth.  Her male companion, 29-year old Zachary Alexander Truby was arrested for meth possession.

A 22-year old Spring man was arrested Saturday night for possession of marijuana along with some drug paraphernalia.  Officer Jonathan Schiller  stopped his car when he failed to yield in the 1700 block of South Day.  He discovered an un-smoked marijuana cigar.  There were four people in the car but Darrell Dwayne Dominguez was the one who claimed ownership of the drugs and was arrested.

Officer Lance Weiss found meth and cocaine in a black bag during a contentious traffic stop Sunday morning.  He made a traffic stop a the intersection of Blue Bell and Autumn Rain. A front seat passenger tied to talk over the driver during the stop.  The driver consented to have his car searched but the passenger repeatedly interfered.  Officer Weiss then handcuffed her but she still resisted.  That’s when the Officer Weiss found a black bag lying on the roadway.  A search of that bag found methamphetamines and cocaine in the bag and 44-year old Dawn Patricia Lucker of Wilis was arrested for the possession of these drugs.
