WASHINGTON COUNTY REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS ARE READY FOR STATE CONVENTIONS IN JUNE

  

The Washington County Republicans and Democrats are getting prepared to send their delegations to their respective state conventions in June.

Both held the county conventions Saturday. 

Washington County Republicans passed a resolution calling for the repeal of the Affordable Care Act and to dissolve several federal agencies.  The County Republicans will send 23 delegates and 16 alternates to the Republican State Convention in Fort Worth from June 5th through the 7th.

The Washington County Democrats met Saturday morning at the Boys and Girls Club  They are sending 11 delegates and 11 alternates to their state convention in Dallas on June 26th through  the 28th.  The convention also passed a number of resolutions.  County Party Chair George Dillingham says the local Democrats want to eliminate the runoff for the primary, saying it costs too much money.  The Democrats passed a resolution saying they defending ‘women’s reproductive rights’ but stating this is, in no an approval of abortion.

The runoff for the primaries will be on May 27th.
