BRENHAM MAN SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON

A Brenham man with a long criminal history will serve a long prison sentence after he pled guilty this week   for delivering cocaine in June of 2011.

Thirty-two year old Cochise Jabbar Hickey pled guilty to delivering between one and four grams of cocaine.    Judge Reva Towslee-Corbett sentenced Hickey to ten years in prison and ordered him to pay a $2000 fine.  The charge was enhanced to a first degree felony because Hickey had numerous previous convictions, dating back to September of 1999 when he pled guilty to a criminal trespass charge.  He had pled guilty to several other charges, including many drug offenses since then.

District Court Judge Carson Campell sentenced 58-year old Kenneth Roberts after he  pled guilty to possessing cocaine after his arrest in January of this year.   Roberts will serve five years probation for the possession of crack cocaine and evading arrest in a motor vehicle.

Brenham police officer David Dudenhoeffer tried to stop Roberts while he was driving an older model Ford pickup truck on Old Mill Creek Road just before 11am on January 2nd.  Officer Justin Schiller joined a slow paced pursuit as he drove out to FM 389 towards a trailer park.  Roberts then slowed down enough for the officers to jump into his pickup truck, where they encountered a ‘very aggressive pit bull.’  The officers got out of the truck and Roberts sped off, only to hit a police car.  A subsequent search found crack cocaine.

Judge Campbell revoked the probation of 24-year old Michael Andrew Miller of Brenham after he failed to keep up with the probation agreement for a 2012 conviction for choking a family member.  Miller was arrested for this offense in May of 2012.  Judge Campbell sentenced Miller to four years in prison and imposed a $750 fine.

Judge Campbell sentenced 28-year old Clifford Jamal Clay of Brenham to five years probation for a third offense driving while intoxicated charge.  Clay was arrested on August 2nd 2012.  He must also pay a $2000 fine and wear an ankle monitor to track his actions.
