GRBA SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR SNOOK MURDER

A Burleson County jury sentenced 20-year old Broderick Grba to a life term in prison for the murder of a College Station man in January of last year.

District Attorney Julie Renken called the murder an ‘essential act of violence’ because Grba ran after 31-year Marcus Carroll of College Station and shot him in the back at an apartment complex in Snook.  Renken said an eye witness account from Antown Heslip was essential in getting the conviction and the sentence.

Broderick Grba was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a College Station man in Snook.

Renken said Grba had a long criminal history that began when he was 11-years old.  He was known for committing acts of violence repeatedly since then.

Grba was also sentenced to 20 years for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary.  The sentences will run concurrently.

She said this sentence sends a strong message to those who do violence to others.

It was January 6th, 2013 when Grba came up to Carroll and began shooting. Carroll fired shots in self defense, then ran.  Grba caught up with him and shot him three times in the back.  Grba’s defense however, argued he was acting in self defense.

Heslip was critically injured in the attack but has now recovered.

Renken said this sentence means Grba will have no more chances to commit more crimes of violence.
