KATE WELLMAN CLASS OF 2014 VALEDICTORIAN JEREMY ARNOLD SALUTATORIAN

  

The top two graduates of the Brenham High School Class of 2014 are headed to Aggieland.

Kate Wellman was named the valedictorian at last (Monday) night’s 27TH Annual Brenham High School Scholarship Awards program,.  Her honor came after four years of hard work but according to Brenham High School Principal Steve Skrla the competition was very close.  In the end, Ms. Wellman won out with a 4.71 grade point average.  She said she was not aware of how narrowly she won the honor.

Salutatorian Jeremy Arnold and Valedictorian Kate Wellman are both going to Texas A&M after graduation.  They were with the 77 honor graduates at the annual Scholarships Awards program Monday night.

 

 

Wellman  will be going to Texas A&M to study accounting at the Mays Business School.  She hopes to become a certified public accountant.

Jeremy Arnold was named salutatorian with a grade point average of 4.68. He too, is off to Texas A&M in the fall to study forensic science.  He says the television show ‘Criminal Minds’ inspired him and hopes that he may work with the FBI.

Monday night’s Scholarship Awards program was a fruitful one for over 100 seniors in the Brenham High School class of 2014.  Seventy-seven of the 318 member class were named honor graduates.  Just over $203,000 in scholarships were awarded. Many of the students won numerous scholarships.

Many will go on to Blinn College.  When all those who were planning to go to Blinn were asked to stand,  more than half of the honorees stood.\

The Class of 2014 will graduate on May 31st.

  1. I had the privilege of teaching Kate and Jeremy in 8th grade. These two young people are so deserving of their academic honors.
