TEA PARTY COULD BE TODAY’S BIG WINNERS
The Associated Press reports that today’s (Tuesday’s) runoff election will probably be a very good one for the Tea Party candidates.
The AP reports that Dan Patrick will likely defeat incumbent David Dewhurst for Lieutenant Governor./ Patrick mounted a challenge to Dewhurst after the raucous special session of the state legislature last year in which State Senator Wendy Davis filibustered additional abortion restrictions in the first of two special sessions. Davis has now been nominated as the Democratic candidate for governor, but a Tea party favorite may replace her in the state senate.
There has been a fierce fight to replace Greg Abbott as the state’s Attorney General. Ken Paxton and Dan Branch have both tried to present themselves as even more conservative.
The Democrats have their own concerns in today’s (Tuesday’s) voting. Dental clinic mogul Dr. David Alameel is the party’s favorite to face incumbent Republican John Cornyn but he is in a runoff that Democratic Party leaders say is not really a Democrat. Kesha Rogers, running as a Democrat is a follower of Lyndon LaRouche and has promised to support the impeachment of President Obama.
