LOIS KOLKHORST TOURS BORDER WITH DPS

District-13 State Representative Lois Kolkhorst of Brenham has seen first-hand the battle being waged on the Texas/Mexico border.

Kolkhorst recently travelled to the border to meet with the Department of Public Safety and survey their efforts to patrol the border.

Kolkhorst met with DPS Director Steve McGraw and officers from Region 3 for a confidential briefing on the current border operations.

Kolkhorst says the key is understanding what the officers are trying to combat…

Kolkhorst spent a day at the state’s Operation Strong Safety Command Post, where she took part in armed patrols, and said she’s proud of the efforts of the DPS, Border Patrol, Texas Military Forces and local law enforcement.

She also says that when Washington D.C. fails the state, it’s up to Texas to take the lead on border security operations…

Kolkhorst says she personally has talked to U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul to thank him for leading the effort reimburse Texas for all the money spent to carry out what she calls “a constitutional, federal duty”.

She adds that she’s making a concerted effort to help stop this influx of drugs and illegal aliens…

Kolkhorst says her trip to the border has reinforced the point that Texas need to keep building on previous surge operations—she says, “…until the federal government finally decides o enforce the law and protect our border.”
