Current hiring opportunities and career benefits for Correctional Officers with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice will be presented at a hiring seminar tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. at the Hobby Unit located at 742 FM 712 in Marlin.

There are a number of staff openings for both full and part-time Correctional Officers at the area prison units.

A recruiter will be on hand to answer questions, explain employee benefits, including current pay plan, and to explain the duties and requirements of a Correctional Officer.

A $4,000 recruiting bonus will be offered for new Correctional Officers who agree to work at one of the 15 units across the state.

Starting pay for a Correctional Officer is $2,435 a month, and progress at intervals to $3,240.70 after 91 days of service.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old, and possess a high school diploma of G.E.D.
