BRENHAM’S NEW FIRE TRUCKS NEARLY HERE
The Brenham Fire Department could have its two new fire trucks in their garage within the next few weeks.
The trucks are being delivered from Pierce, Wisconsin, after they were purchased earlier this year through a debt issuance.
Fire Chief Ricky Boeker tells the weekend edition of the Brenham Banner Press that the rescue truck is in Houston going through its final “make ready”.
Boeker says the new pumper truck had some transmission problems that are being repaired and should be here shortly.
Boeker goes on to say that the rescue truck could be delivered sometime this week, unless the manufacturer opts to wait for the pumper truck which could take a couple weeks.
The new trucks cost approximately $1.3-millon, which is part of $4.1-million bond issue for the new trucks, as well as land for a new fire station, construction of the new animal shelter and renovations to the Nancy Carol Roberts Library.
