PART OF CHAPPEL HILL ST. REOPENING
A part of Chappell Hill Street that has been under construction for several months has reopened.
However, city officials say the new extension of the street won’t be ready for another month.
Chappell Hill Street from Stone to Market, closed since late November, has been reopened to traffic after being closed so curbs and gutters could be installed, along with a new riding surface.
Traffic lights have also been installed at the intersection of Chappell Hill and Market streets.
The Market-to-Stringer extension of Chappell Hill St. isn’t expected to be opened for another month.
City public works director Dane Rau says the portion from Market to Ram Optical will not open until the lights are programmed and the new striping is done for Market and the intersection, which he says may take another month.
