TXDOT CONTRACTOR COMPLETING CONSTRUCTION OF SH6 RAMPS
The Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) contractor is completing construction of the new northbound entrance and exit ramps on SH 6 (North Rudder Freeway) between FM 1179 (Briarcrest Drive) and FM 158 (Boonville Road/William J. Bryan Parkway). These ramps are expected to be open to traffic the week of April 20th, if weather permits final surfacing and striping.
Completion of the above items may require outside lane closures on the mainlanes of SH 6. However, these closures will be scheduled to avoid peak traffic hours and minimize congestion.
Reconstruction of the next set of ramps is to begin next Tuesday, April 14th. The southbound ramps between FM 1179 (Briarcrest Drive) and FM 60 (University Drive) will be closed along with one lane of the west frontage road from Lowe’s to Wilton’s Office Supply. The ramp and frontage road closures are expected to last until the middle of July. Drivers should be alert to the additional signage for the ramp and lane closures as well as the reduced 60mph speed zone on the main lanes of SH 6 in this construction area.
All of this work is part of a $13 million contract awarded to Big Creek Construction, LTD, of Hewitt, which includes the reconstruction of all north and southbound ramps between FM 2818 (Harvey Mitchell Parkway) and FM 158 (William J. Bryan Parkway/Boonville Road) that is expected to be complete in winter of 2015.
