FAYETTE COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT

  

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of May 2015. Deputy Rick Bohlmann responded to a residence in the Hostyn area in reference to a welfare check on an elderly female. Bohlmann also responded to a residence to check on a mentally ill female and she was later evaluated by a caseworker.

Deputy Ben Wilson responded to a structure fire at a residence on State Highway 71. The front porch of the residence caught fire and was extinguished by the La Grange Fire Department. Cause of the fire is believed to be caused by a cigarette. Wilson also stopped a vehicle on Old Lockhart Road near Jackson Road. The driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of marijuana and was arrested. Deputy Marc Bennett responded to property off of Five Mile Creek Road for a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was later located in Houston after a pursuit ensued and the suspect fled on foot after the vehicle was stopped and recovered. Sergeant Ron Naumann responded to the area of FM 609, Radhost School Road, and Knape Road where a tornado touched down and caused property damage. No injuries were reported.

Deputy Perry Kram responded to an address off of FM 2145 for a suspicious person call. A female on the property was located and found in possession of marijuana. The female was arrested and also linked to a burglary on the property. She was also charged with burglary of a building. Investigator Robert Dryden took a report of a lost firearm which was loaned to a family friend who recently passed away. Sergeant Charles Jobb stopped a vehicle for speeding on US Hwy 77 just north of the Schulenburg city limits. Marijuana was located in the vehicle and the driver was charged with possession of marijuana.

Deputy David Smith took a report of a stolen Polaris Ranger from property off of West Parker Road. During the investigation a suspect was identified and numerous burglaries were confessed to by numerous suspects in the area of West Parker Road. Deputy Garrett Durrenberger responded to a male subject in the La Grange area who had discharged a firearm at some relatives. The male was evaluated by MHMR services and the firearm was kept for safekeeping. Durrenberger also responded to the Warrenton area for a suspicious male trespassing on property. The male was located and arrested for trespassing. Deputy Daitwan Walker was dispatched to the Fayetteville Store in reference to an assault. The assailant was identified and an arrested warrant was issued with him being subsequently arrested. Deputy Darrell Maze took a report of shots being fired in the close proximity of a residence. Maze located the persons shooting and spoke to them about safe shooting practices.

Deputy Joe Martin investigated a criminal mischief case to equipment on Old Smithville Road. This case was linked to the other burglary cases in the area and those suspects have been identified. Martin also assisted DPS with the stop of a tractor trailer truck on State Highway 71 near the 159 exit. The driver of the tractor truck was found to be intoxicated and was arrested. Deputy Jeremy Castleberry transported a mentally ill person to a mental health facility in Austin for treatment. Castleberry also assisted the Fayetteville School with traffic control for a school event. Deputy Michael Otten responded to a residence in the West Point area for a person not wanted on the property by the property owner. Prior to arrival the suspect left. Otten later located the suspect and a criminal trespass warning was issued.

Deputy Mark Zimmerman responded to a residence on Garbade Lane in reference to a disturbance. Two persons at the residence were arrested for assault. Deputy Kenn Kretz stopped a vehicle and the occupant in the vehicle was arrested for a felony warrant. Kretz also responded to an oil battery fire which was started by a lighting strike.

Jail Administrator Edward Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 74 individuals for the month of May and transported 7 individuals to the Texas Department of Corrections Facilities to begin serving time for crimes committed in Fayette County.

Fayette County Deputies traveled 54,480 miles, made 16 felony and 23 misdemeanor arrests. A total of 444 calls were received by the Sheriff’s Office. A total of $27,717.15 was collect by Justice of the Peace Courts as a result of deputies’ activities.
