CHAPPELL HILL CHAMBER DISCUSS FUTURE TRENDS FOR TAX APPRAISALS

Saturday’s Property Tax Appraisal Forum, hosted by the Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce, provided key insight on the county’s appraisal district for a roomful of Washington County residents in attendance this past Saturday.

Willy Dilworth, the Washington County Chief Appraiser, provided a historical perspective on the state’s property tax code, offered comparisons on various property appraisals throughout the county, and provided taxpayers with a map of the county which helped illustrate how the number of sales in one area compared to others and how this impacts appraisals overall. He went on to explain how the ever burgeoning tax code ties his hands with respect property valuations and most interestingly how the appraisal review board has far greatly latitude.

“The Future Trends Committee of the Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce, appreciates the time Mr. Dilworth took to visit with residents of the Chappell Hill area and walk through the appraisal process as well as answer specific questions.  Residents received information on recent tax appraisals, learned where the most popular areas of the county are in terms of property sales and the difference between perceived land value and what land is actually being sold for,” stated Chamber President Roger Imm.

The Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce Future Trends Committee provides regular forums for the residents of Chappell Hill and Washington County. Recent events include; local growth trends, Texas Department of Transportation long-term plans, and the inaugural Washington County Sheriff’s Forum.
