BLINN BOARD TO HEAR FROM PUBLIC ON PROPOSED TAX RATE
The Blinn College Board of Trustees will meet this evening at 6:30pm to hold a public hearing to review a proposal to adopt a 2015 tax rate that exceeds the effective tax rate.
The College District proposes to increase total tax revenues from properties on the tax roll in the preceding year by 7.9%, the percentage by which proposed tax rate exceeds lower of rollback tax rate or effective tax rate calculated under the tax code.
The average taxable value of a residence homestead in the Blinn Colege District is $160,467. If the effective tax rate is adopted for this year, $0.0557 per $100 of taxable value, the amount of taxes imposed this year on the average home would be $89.38.
If the tax rate of $0601 per $100 valuation is adopted, the tax on the average home would be $96.44.
Individual taxes my increase at a greater or lesser rate or even decrease depending on the value of the property.
The Board of Trustees will also discuss and possibly act upon a Preliminary Master Plan for the Bryan West Campus at F.M 2818 and Leonard Road.
The Blinn Board of Trustees will meet on the third floor Administration Building on the Blinn-Brenham campus.
