FAYETTE COUNTY SHERIFF SEPTEMBER REPORT
Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of September 2015. Deputy Rick Bohlmann responded to a disturbance in the Engle area. A female at the residence was asked to leave the residence to prevent further problems. Deputy Ben Wilson responded to an address off of FM 609 in reference to a theft of diesel fuel. Wilson also responded to South Weyand Road for a tractor fire.
Deputy Marc Bennett responded to the Round Top Bank in reference to property damage caused by a vehicle. The vehicle and persons responsible for the damages were located. An insurance claim was made to fix the damages. Bennett also took a report of an assault which occurred to a female in the Schulenburg area. A warrant was obtained for the suspect and he was arrested. Sergeant Ron Naumann responded to property off of Forest Hills East for an illegal dumping case. Naumann located the responsible party in this case and the trash was cleaned. Naumann also took a theft report from a Vendor at the Antique Show in Warrenton. A suspect was identified and later located in possession of stolen property. He was arrested for theft.
Investigator Angela Lala investigated a family violence call in the La Grange area. The suspect in this case was arrested for assault family violence. Lala also assisted in an investigation of two small children found unsupervised in the Ellinger area near State Highway 71. The case is pending review by a Fayette County Grand Jury. Deputy Perry Kram responded to a disturbance in the Warrenton area. A female on scene was found to be extremely intoxicated and she was arrested for public intoxication. Investigator Robert Dryden assisted in the investigation of a case of theft from a business in the Ellinger area. An employee was alleged to be taking money from the business. Dryden Also assisted the Texas Department of Public Safety with an accident investigation where a vehicle was linked to property damage on the Granny McCormick property. A female responsible for the damages was located and arrested for DWI.
Sergeant Charles Jobb responded to property off of FM 1383 in reference to a round bale hay fire. The Schulenburg Fire Department extinguished the fire. Fire was caused by a faulty bearing in the baler. Deputy Steve Nelson met with a complainant in the Round Top area in reference to threats. Nelson also responded to a possible suicidal person at a residence off of State Highway 159. The patient was found on the back side of the property and treated by EMS Medic One.
Deputy David Smith attempted to stop a pickup truck traveling east on Interstate 10 near Schulenburg. A short pursuit ensued and the driver was apprehended with charges being filed. Deputy Garrett Durrenberger responded to a call where the owner of a stolen trailer saw a vehicle towing it down the roadway. Durrenberger located the vehicle towing the trailer and a traffic stop was conducted. The driver of the vehicle towing the stolen trailer was arrested. Durrenberger also took a missing person report of a female. She was located and found to be safe in the Williamson County Jail.
Deputy Daitwan Walker responded to the Monument Hill State Park for persons using narcotics. Walker located two people with one being issued citations for possession of drug paraphernalia and the other was arrested on a warrant for possession of marijuana. Walker also responded to a residence off of State Highway 159 for a report of person smoking marijuana in a residence. Walker made the location and a male subject there was arrested for possession of marijuana. Deputy Darrell Maze responded to an address off of Airport Road where a thunderstorm produced a small twister which caused damage to a residence. No injuries were reported. Maze also responded to a disturbance off of Trinity School Road. A female at the location was found to have warrants and she was arrested. Deputy Joe Martin responded to an address off of Lane Pool Road in reference to a disturbance. Both parties’ were separated.
Deputy Jeremy Castleberry responded to a residence off of Bauer Road in reference to a suicidal subject. The patient was found to not need further treatment. Deputy Michael Otten received a call of a reckless driver traveling along State Highway 71. Otten located the vehicle and a traffic stop was made. The driver was found to be in possession of synthetic marijuana and was subsequently arrested. Otten also made traffic stop on a vehicle on North Old Smithville Road and found the license’s plates to the vehicle were not registered to that particular vehicle. The driver was found to have local Justice of the Peace Warrants and he was arrested.
Deputy Ken Kretz made an arrest in the Muldoon area on a subject possessing outstanding traffic warrants. Deputy Casey Thumann responded to a welfare concern on a two month and two year old child. After an investigation conducted by Thumann, warrants were issued for a male and female for abandoning and endangering a child. Thumann also stopped a vehicle for failing to dim headlamps. Further investigation lead to charges of tampering with evidence after the driver of the vehicle attempted to ingest marijuana.
Jail Administrator Ed Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 96 individuals for the month of September and transported 8 individuals to the Texas Department of Corrections Facilities to begin serving time for crimes committed in Fayette County.
