David Blakey, Jr. is announcing that he is running for Constable for Precinct 3 in Washington County.

Blakey is a lifelong resident of Washington County, with over 30 years of law enforcement experience, and started his law enforcement career in 1985, and has worked for the Burton Police Department, Brenham Police Department and Washington County Sheriff’s Department.

In 1999, he joined the Bellville Police Department and soon after obtained the rank of Lieutenant and served as Assistant Chief.

Blakey has played an active role in many local and state organizations including Crime Stoppers as a board member and was a voting delegate to the Texas Radio Coalition representing Region 16, Houston-Galveston Area Council, for state wide public safety communications and interoperability.

He holds a Master Peace Officer License; he is a state Law Enforcement Instructor, a Firearms Instructor, as well as a Crisis Intervention Instructor.

He has also completed advanced training for command and general staff in the Incident Command System thru FEMA and the US Department of Homeland Security.

Blakey left Bellville in 2008 to join his brother in the family business, Blakey Land Surveying.

He has continued his law enforcement career as a part-time Deputy with the Austin County Sheriff’s Department where he is currently in charge of training for the department and surrounding agencies.

Blakey lives in the Rehburg community with his wife Suzy and daughter Caitlyn and has a son, Joshua who lives in Brenham.

He is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rehburg where he have served on church council as chairman and also chaired organizations.

He earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America and have served as Scout Master.

Blakey believes that as Constable, that his full time law enforcement experience as well as his extensive training background will benefit Precinct 3, as well as all Washington County citizens.

He says he would like to see the Precinct 3 Constable’s Office become more involved in law enforcement and the community by being visible and available to the citizens of Precinct 3 and assisting the Sheriff’s Department with calls for service.

Blakey says he would also like to utilize his training background by holding required and specialized training classes for all Washington County Law Enforcement, which will save tax payer money by not having to hire outside trainers.

The current Precinct Three Constable is Nelson Zibilski, who has not yet said whether he intends to see re-election.
