BLINN MINIMESTER OFFERS COLLEGE CREDIT IN LESS THAN THREE WEEKS
Students looking to earn extra credit hours toward their degree can register for Blinn College’s Winter minimester beginning today.
Blinn College opened public registration for its upcoming Winter minimester and the Spring 2016 semester at 9 a.m. today. The Winter minimester runs Dec. 18-22 and Jan. 4-14, and registration remains open through Dec. 17.
Students who will be traveling during the holidays can take advantage of Blinn’s convenient online courses during the minimester, including: Cultural Anthropology, Art Appreciation, Introduction to Theater, Composition I, Physical Geography, World Geography, American Government, Texas Government, Medical Terminology I, U.S. History I, U.S. History II, Music Appreciation, General Psychology, Lifespan Growth & Development, Introduction to Sociology, Introduction to Speech Communication and Public Speaking.
On the Brenham campus, students can enroll in American Government or Plane Trigonometry.
In Bryan, students can take Cultural Anthropology, Introduction to Theater, World Geography, American Government, Texas Government, U.S. History I, Mathematics for Business & Social Sciences I (Finite Mathematics), Calculus for Business & Social Sciences, Introduction to Logic, General Psychology, Introduction to Sociology or Public Speaking.
Students may register for one course during the minimester. Last year, a record 1,524 enrolled in minimester courses, including 1,225 who opted to take their courses online.
According to figures compiled by CollegeForAllTexans.com, Blinn students who take 30 credit hours in the 2015-16 academic year will save thousands in tuition and fees compared to students at both public and private universities across the state.
At just $4,974 for 30 credit hours, Blinn’s out-of-district tuition and fees offer students a savings of $3,345 (40.2 percent) compared to state residents at the average Texas public university. The average tuition and fees for Texas residents enrolled in 30 hours at a public university is $8,319.
Students who choose to attend Blinn instead of one of the state’s 37 private universities save more than $21,000 over the course of the year. With the average Texas private university costing $26,501 in tuition and fees, out-of-district Blinn students save $21,527 (81 percent) over the course of the year.
Registration for 16-week and first eight-week Spring courses remain open through Jan. 18, with classes beginning Jan. 19. For registration information, visit: www.blinn.edu.
