WASHINGTON COUNTY RECEIVES INCREASE IN SALES TAX DISTRIBUTION
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced on Wednesday he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $732 million in local sales tax allocations for November, which represents an increase of 1.2 percent compared to November 2014. These allocations are based on monthly sales made in September by businesses that report tax monthly.
Hagar says that the tax revenue for the state in October was $2.28 billion, down 5.4 percent compared to October 2014.
In Washington County, the City of Brenham received $579,483.68, compared to last year’s total of $519,868.60, an increase of 11.46 percent. To date, the City has received $5,843,140.75, compared to last years at this time of $5,410,022.25, an increase of 8 percent.
The City of Burton received $2,985.42, compared to last year’s total at this time of $1,928.94, which represents an increase of 54.76 percent. So far in 2015, the City of Burton has received $28,030.20, compared to 2014 at this time of $31,007.43, a decrease of 9.6 percent.
