The Central Texas man, accused of killing a man at the end of a high-speed chase that began in Caldwell, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder Monday.

According to the Milam County District Attorney's Office, John Fitzgerald Page Jr. of Belton faces up to 50 years in prison for the death of 71-year-old Guadalupe Rodriguez of Buckholts.

On March 15 of last year, DPS troopers say police in Caldwell tried to stop Page, who was accused of assaulting his girlfriend.

Page then led law enforcement on a multi-county high-speed chase, that went north on Highway 36 and, at times, reached speeds of 120 miles per hour.

When Page reached Buckholts, he reportedly lost control of his car and crashed into a median, striking Rodriguez.

Sentencing is set to take place sometime in April.  Page is not eligible for probation.
