END NEARING FOR WASHINGTON CO. DISPATCH TAKEOVER

Officials with the City of Brenham and Washington County say one last step is left in the county’s takeover of emergency dispatch.

Brenham City Manager Terry Roberts said the large amount of data contained in the public safety software must still be transferred from city’s computer servers to the county’s.

Roberts says that process is expected to begin in a few weeks.

Last year the county took over dispatching from the city, an “exchange of services”, with the city agreeing to continue providing fire protection, animal control and the library services.

Roberts says the final phase will begin in less than two weeks, with the exchange of the public safety software from the city computers to the county computers, likely taking several weeks to complete.

During the transition period, both systems will be operating to make sure there is no loss of data.

  1. Up front communication with the taxpayers would be refreshing on this subject, for a change. Wish in one hand…….. Remember folks you elected them.

  2. Have other people noticed all of the surveillance cameras that are being installed recently at every major intersection in town. Check out Blue Bell Rd. at Stone, at Tom Green, at East Main; also, Tom Green at Market. Not traffic control cameras; these are surveillance cameras. Who is monitoring these cameras? Is this part of the new emergency system? I suppose installing surveillance cameras on roadways is not an invasion of privacy; or is it? How does it work with the emergency system? Are these Peeking-Tom cameras legal? What are they for? How much is this costing taxpayers? Any credible input would be appreciated from anyone.

    1. On them cameras. I was at the donut shop this morning. Here is the hole story. I heard we need the cameras to stop the spike in the high crime in Brenham. The last police chief did not stop crime. The new police chief wants them. Sounds like this police chief is actually doing something. You cannot sugarcoat the truth.
