WELLMANN NAMED CONFERENCE HITTER OF THE WEEK

Former Brenham Cubette and Blinn Buccaneer softball standout, Sydney Wellmann was named Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week.

The St. Mary’s University senior first-baseman put up big numbers in the Rattlers' three-game sweep of Texas-Permian Basin batting .545 with 14 RBI and four home runs, accounting for nearly half of the Rattlers runs in the three games.

Wellmann hit a grand slam in the sixth inning of game one before driving home five RBI in the nightcap, which was highlighted by a three-run home run in the seventh. In the series finale, she belted a pair of two-run homers enroute to another five RBI performance.

For the season, Wellmann is leading the Rattlers with a .823 slugging percentage, eight home runs and 32 RBI while batting .403.
