Washington Co. are reporting over 40 high-water rescues have taken place since the rains began Thursday afternoon.

Sheriff's deputies, DPS Troopers, Brenham Police, Citizens on Patrol, Washington County EMS and local and area firefighters are all out trying to assist with this situation.

At 6:15 p.m., Bluebonnet reported 81 outages affecting 3,087 members. We just restored power to about 600 members served from our Gay Hill substation; outage was caused by lightning striking insulators on our electric lines.

Current outages are concentrated in central and eastern Washington County and south eastern Burleson County. Flooded roads and streams are preventing crews from reaching two outages near Tx Hwy 105 and FM 1155, affecting about 1,100 members. Crews are working outages they can reach, will restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

Twenty crews are working in Washington and Burleson counties, but due to the flooding are unable to get to some outages east of Burton in Washington County.

According to Will Holford, crews will work through the night, monitoring roads and streams, but members in eastern Washington Co. will likely be without power until Friday, depending on how quickly the storms move out and the water recedes.

Pre-K and Kindergarten registration scheduled for tonight has been cancelled.
