WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS MOVE FORWARD WITH OFFICER BODY CAMERAS

  

The Washington County Commissioners Court met today (Tuesday) and moved forward with the final step to approve a state grant for officer worn body cameras.  

The Court approved the submission of a grant application by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division. The matching grant is for approximately $11,000 and will equip Washington County Officers on the street with the body cameras. The Commissioners Court says they hope this will be another tool to help keep Washington County officers and citizens safe.

The Court also approved the selling of surplus county property through Gov-Deals. The Gov-Deals website is an online auction service that allows government agencies to sell confiscated items. The Court simultaneously approved disposing of any residual items according to the local government code.

The Court went on to approved a resolution that certifies Washington County has granted funds to the Washington County Healthy Living Association (WCHLA). The resolution makes the Senior Activity Center in Brenham eligible to receive funds from the Texas Department of Agriculture Home-Delivered Meal Grant Program. Frank Blizzard, a WCHLA Board Member, says it’s important to receive the grant as the Senior Center currently feeds around 250 per day.

The County Commissioner Court also approved the renewal of bonds for the County Engineer and a Reserve Deputy Sheriff; approved the Fairgrounds management rental and regulation contracts; and approved the accounts payable.
