HUNTINGTON BANK DONATES $20,000 TO WASHINGTON CO. VFDs

Washington County volunteer fire departments have received a sizable contribution from a local bank.

Huntington Bank officials present a check on Thursday
in the amount of $20,000 to members of Washington
County's volunteer fire departments.

Representatives from Huntington Bank presented a $20,000 check today (Thursday) to officials from the county’s ten volunteer fire departments: Berlin, Burton, Chappell Hill, Gay Hill, Latium, Meyersville, Prairie Hill, Rocky Hill, Salem and Washington.  Each department will receive $2,000.

Huntington Bank Community President Gary Durrenberger said the bank is pleased to be able to celebrate the partners who serve the community and called this a “historic day”.  Peyton Jones, Regional Bank President for Central and East Texas, said Durrenberger was significant in the efforts to coordinate this donation and that the bank’s priorities will always be people, customers and the community.

Tim Hamff, Rocky Creek Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief and Public Information Officer for the Washington County Firefighters Association, said these funds will go a long way and that the donation means a great deal to the fire departments.

Huntington Bank began operating in Washington County earlier this year after completing a merger with Cadence Bank, who itself completed a merger last year with Industry Bancshares.  Huntington has around 1,400 branch locations across 21 states.
