BISD HONORS “YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE” RECIPIENTS

The Brenham Independent School District honored the recipients of the “You Make a Difference Award” at the Board of Trustees meeting Monday. The recipients of the award are Brenham Police Officer Tommy Kurie, BBVA - Compass Bank, and Brazos Valley School Credit Union.

Officer Kurie has secured donations to provide books, clothing, and Christmas gifts for students in need within Brenham Independent School District. He has also partnered with Alton Elementary by providing incentives for students modeling good behavior and being respectful and responsible in the classroom, cafeteria, and on the playground.

BBVA and BVSCU played a vital part in the school district’s back to school staff events. Not only did both groups sponsor welcome lunches for our new staff members, but they continually show their support throughout the school year. BVSCU assisted with the purchase of the staff "One Brenham - Better Together" t-shirts. They also regularly volunteer to complete projects for teachers. BBVA Compass has also had a visible role in Brenham ISD by providing financial literacy classes to the elementary students.
