BLINN STUDENTS RECEIVE EMERGENCY TEXT ALERT BY ERROR

Blinn College officials are saying that the emergency text alerts sent to some students Wednesday night were sent in error and were not legitimate.

The text alert went to many colleges in several states including Blinn College and Texas A&M University.

While certain student’s received a message asking them to calmly evacuate the campus, Blinn released a message on the college’s Facebook page at approximately 10 p.m. saying, “There are no emergencies at any Blinn College facility at this time.”

Authorities think the false alarm may have been caused by a real alert issued at Lone Star College. The Lone Star College University Park campus was evacuated for a gas leak Wednesday night.
