BRENHAM TENNIS BATTLES MAGNOLIA IN SEASON FINALE

Brenham tennis fell to Magnolia 12-7 in the season finale.

Highlights of the match included three wins in boys’ doubles: #1 Dalton Barron and Nick Summerour 6-1, 6-1;  #2 Aren Holt and Thomas Luna 3-6, 6-4, (10-5 super tie-breaker);  and #3 Gunnar Smith and Andrew Trostle 6-0, 6-3.

Brenham also won the mixed doubles: Abby Figueroa and Spencer Flynn 6-1, 6-0.

“We were looking good coming out of the doubles being up 4-3,” said coach Roy Thibodeaux.  “However we were not able to carry that momentum into the single matches.”

Winning for the boys in singles were #1 Dalton Barron 7-5, 6-0.  “Dalton played very well,” said Thibodeaux.  “I was impressed how he continued to get better as the match went on.”

Also winning in boys singles was #6 Andrew Trostle.

Winning for the girls in singles was #1 Abby Figueroa 6-4, 6-3.  “Abby played a terrific match,” said Thibodeaux.  “She was very consistent and had her serve working great.”
