TXDOT TO CLOSE PORTION OF DIXIE ROAD

  

The Texas Department of Transportation has announced a portion of Dixie Road in Washington County will be closed for one week.

Beginning Monday, weather permitting, the TxDOT’s contractor will temporarily close Dixie Road where it intersects with SH 36.  This closure will allow the contractor to realign Dixie Road and tie into the new southbound lanes.  A signed detour will be in place to direct traffic to use Berlin Road, US 290 and SH 36.  The closure is expected to last one week.

This work is part of a $14.3-million project to widen SH 36 to a four lane divided highway between US 290 West and BS 36 in Brenham.  The project is contracted to Angel Brothers Holding Corp. out of Baytown, Texas and is expected to be complete by spring 2018.

TxDOT reminds everyone to obey all warning signs, watch for workers and equipment, buckle up and drive safely.
