WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS APPROVE GRANTS FOR STORM DAMAGE

  

The Washington County Commissioners Court approved two grants to help pay for damage sustained during the storms in April.

The two grants were through the Texas Division of Emergency Management, but funded through FEMA. The grants combined are worth approximately $124,271. FEMA will fund 75- percent of the grants, totaling $93,203.

The County Commissioners also approved this year’s disbursement of Burton and Brenham school land funds. The Commissioners Court oversees property in Tom Green County that was given to the county’s public school districts. The land is leased for hunting and agricultural purposes. Each year the amount of money generated from it is divided between Burton ISD and Brenham ISD based on the daily average attendance for each district. Burton ISD will receive $74,419 this year, and Brenham ISD will receive $207,351.

In other business, the Commissioners Court approved bonds for two Reserve Deputy Sheriffs and one Deputy Constable; approved the Fairgrounds Management Contracts; and approved the accounts payable.
