TWO GUNS MISSING FROM WALLER CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE

  

The Waller County Sheriff’s Office has notified county officials that two guns went missing from the sheriff’s firearm inventory last week.

Sheriff R. Glenn Smith notified District Attorney Elton Mathis on November 1st that the weapons were unaccounted for during an internal audit. Mathis said he intends to wait to consider taking action until the internal audit and the audit being conducted by the county are complete.

This comes after eight guns were stolen from the sheriff’s marked vehicle last year. In December 2015, thieves stole a number of weapons including a HK UMP 45 submachine gun, a 300 Blackout rifle, and six handguns.
