SENATOR KOLKHORST COMMENTS ON OFFICER SHOOTING
Senator Lois W. Kolkhorst took to Facebook Sunday to express her condolences to the family of the San Antonio police officer who was shot in the line of duty earlier that day.
Kolkhorst said that “cowardly attacks against law enforcement officers will not be tolerated in Texas”. She went on to encourage people to join her in keeping the officer’s family and the entire San Antonio community in their prayers.
Police say 50-year-old Benjamin Marconi was fatally shot while writing a ticket outside of police headquarters in San Antonio. According to authorities, Marconi had pulled over a vehicle and was writing a ticket in his car when a vehicle pulled up behind him. The driver walked up to the driver’s side window and opened fire.
Marconi, a 20 year veteran of the force, was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Police Chief William MacManus has said the suspect remains unknown and has not been apprehended.
