WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS APPROVE GENERAL ELECTION VOTES

  

The Washington County Commissioners approved the final General Election vote count during their meeting today (Tuesday).

Washington County Clerk Beth Rothermel said an even 15,000 ballots were cast in the county for the General Election. Rothermel went on to say the county saw a 65.5 percent voter turnout, which she says is higher than the state average.

Washington County Judge John Brieden said he has noticed there is a definite movement of people voting early in the county:

Rothermel also noted that the General Election cost the county approximately $27,000.  The majority of the costs came from staffing. Judge John Brieden emphasized that the county is responsible for General Election costs:

The commissioners also approved a bond extension for Judge Eric Berg. Judge Berg was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Judge Roy. Berg’s previous bond expired as soon as the commissioners canvassed the vote. Berg’s new bond will last until December 31st of 2018, at which time there will be a regular election

.In other business, the commissioners approved two notices of proposed buried utility lines- one for a water line repair on Gene’s Lane and the other for a water line repair on Old Gay Hill Road.
