KBTX FOOD FOR FAMILIES DRIVE GATHERS OVER 150,000 POUNDS OF FOOD
The 2016 KBTX Food for Families drive saw more than 150,000 pounds of food and $130,000 donated on Wednesday.
The food and money will go to the Brazos Valley Food Bank. KTEX’s Blake was at the Brazos Center, which was one of four locations that community members went to in order to make the donations.
The Brazos Valley Food Bank is a central distribution site that unites food donors, volunteers and hunger-relief agencies. As the hub of over 36 different agencies that feed the hungry throughout Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison, Robertson and Washington Counties, the Brazos Valley Food Bank says they are on target to distribute 6 million pounds of food by this year to over 50,000 different individuals in need.
