BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO DISCUSS ACCOUNTABILITY RATING TODAY
The Burton School Board will meet today (Thursday) to discuss a board resolution concerning the A-F accountability rating for Texas Public Schools.
The resolution asks for the Texas Legislature to develop a more appropriate community-based accountability system that addresses local and internal systems and empowers school districts, while continuing to meet general state standards.
The board will also discuss a policy concerning education for students in foster care. The Student Welfare/Student Support Services Policy establishes joint responsibility with the school, the state education agency, and the state and local child welfare agencies to ensure educational stability of students in foster care.
The board will also hear reports from the principals in the district, as well as a report from Superintendent Dr. Edna Kennedy.
The Burton School Board will meet at 5 p.m. tonight at the Administration Office at 701 North Railroad Street.
