WASHINGTON CO. CLEANUP EVENTS COLLECT NEARLY 170,000 POUNDS OF WASTE

  

The Washington County Environmental Health Department says recent cleanup events can be deemed a success after collecting nearly 170,000 pounds of waste.  

Washington County, in partnership with Keep Washington County Beautiful, sponsored free waste collection events in each precinct for rural residents; and the City of Brenham joined the Washington County Health Department in sponsoring the recent free county-wide scrap tire collection event.

Some 922 citizens participated in all events combined; bringing in 75,185 pounds of trash and debris, in addition to 2,844 scrap tires weighing 94,340 pounds.

These cleanup events were made possible by grant funding from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality through the Brazos Valley Council of Governments.
