OFFICER SANTA PROGRAM SPREADS CHRISTMAS CHEER
Santa Claus had a little help this year thanks to the Brenham Police Department.
On Wednesday, members of the Brenham Police Department, Brenham Fire Department, Washington County Emergency Medical Services and Washington County Sheriff’s Office delivered gifts to children across the community as part of the Officer Santa Program.
Brenham Police Chief Craig Goodman says they delivered gifts to approximately 55 families and 120 children. In addition, the Brenham business community helped raise over $4,000 to help purchase toys during the program.
“We are so excited with the response we received for our first ever Officer Santa program. Our entire community joined with us to ensure that so many children and their families will have a Merry Christmas,” said Chief Goodman.
The department worked with school counselors at both Brenham and Burton schools to identify children in need. Some of the information came from officers who have come into contact with the families throughout the year.
“This is a program that we plan on continuing and if this year is anything to judge by, it will only continue to grow. I want to thank each and every one of our businesses, community organizations and private individuals who have contributed money or toys to Officer Santa Program. We are only successful because of them,” said Goodman.
