ARREST MADE IN BRYAN POLICE OFFICER SHOOTING

Bryan police have made an arrest in connection to the officer involved shooting and robbery Thursday morning.

Brazos County Sheriff's Office

31-year-old Rafeal Antoine Ginn is charged with aggravated robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, evading arrest, resisting arrest, and attempting to take a weapon from a peace officer. Bryan Police have not confirmed if Ginn is responsible for shooting the police officer.

Authorities say they were sweeping through the designated search perimeter Thursday when they saw Ginn inside a Chevy Tahoe. Police say Ginn matched the description of the suspect from the robbery. When officers ordered him to exit the vehicle, Ginn refused and tried to run. According to the police report, he was eventually tackled by officers at which time he reached for an officer’s rifle.

The arrest follows a massive manhunt Thursday after a police officer was shot during an early morning burglary at a Stripes convenience store on South College Avenue. The officer was wearing a bullet proof vest, and has since been treated and released from the hospital.
