NAVASOTA ISD OFFICIALLY HIRES NEW SUPERINTENDENT
The Navasota Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to hire Dr. Stu Musick as the district’s new Superintendent during a special meeting Tuesday night.
Musick was previously named as the only finalist for the position in early December.
"I am extremely honored to be named as Superintendent and excited to be extended the vote of confidence to lead Navasota ISD," said Dr. Musick. "I am looking forward to working with our students, staff, parents and community to ensure that all students at Navasota ISD have every opportunity to succeed. I am grateful for the opportunity and I look forward to serving the students, staff, and families of this great community."
Musick previously served as Superintendent of Schools at Oakwood ISD and most recently as Superintendent at Hubbard ISD, serving the students and its community since 2014. He served as a campus principal at both the junior high and high school levels at Waskom ISD and spent 17 years in the classroom where he taught Physics, Chemistry, Applied Physics, Principles of Technology, and Integrated Physics and Chemistry.
Musick earned his Doctorate of Education Degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University in 2015, his Masters of Education degree from Sam Houston State University and his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. Dr. Musick and his wife, Lauren have two daughters, Emma, who is a 2nd grader, and Brennan, who is in Pre-Kindergarten.
Dr. Musick will step into his role as superintendent on January 3, 2017, as faculty and staff return for two days of professional development. Students will return to school on Thursday, January 5.
