CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS BCDC LAND PURCHASE
The Brenham City Council is expected to approve the Brenham Community Development Corporation's (BCDC) acquisition of 45 acres of land during their meeting on Friday.
The land, located at the intersection of FM 389 and FM 332 in Brenham, will be used for industrial park purposes.
In October 2016, the city council approved a promissory note between the city and the BCDC for the purchase of the land, totaling $500,000. Since that time, the city attorney has been working with the seller’s attorney to finalize the sale contract. The land transaction is scheduled to close on Friday.
Due to the amount of time between the council’s approval and the closing date of the sale, the promissory note, debt schedule, and legal description must be updated with new information.
The council will also discuss recommendations of appointments to a number of city advisory boards. Prospective board members that will be considered on Friday include:
- Johanna Fatheree- Board of Adjustments
- Keith Behrens- Planning and Zoning
- Dona Lynn Parker- Main Street Board
- Tom Whitehead- Main Street Board

The council will discuss terminating an inter-local agreement between Washington County and the City of Brenham concerning the Critical Incident Command Unit. The termination of the contract will allow the city to sell the vehicle on GovDeals and split the proceeds 50/50 with the county.
The council will consider a service agreement with McCord Engineering, Inc. for the replacement of copper electric lines. The project will replace about 18 miles of copper conductor with aluminum.
The council will recognize the retirement of Wanda Kramer after 41 years with the City of Brenham. They will also hold a number of service recognitions including: Stephen Draehn (5 years with the Maintenance Department), David Dudenhoeffer (5 years with the Police Department), and Shawn Bolenbarr (10 years with Water/Wasterwater Construction).
The council will meet Friday at 8:30 a.m. in the second floor council chambers at City Hall.
