NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER EVENT HAPPENING TODAY

  

Community members will be able to participate in the National Day of Prayer today (Thursday) at a local event.

A group of pastors have organized a prayer event at the Washington County Courthouse at noon.

The event will feature patriotic and Christian Music. Organizers say there will be no speeches or politics, as the event will focus on prayer.

Pastor Billy Sutherland of Brenham’s Calvary Baptist Church is organizing the event this year.

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
