FDA WARNS ABOUT HEPATITIS A OUTBREAK IN TUNA SENT TO TEXAS
According to the FDA, on May 18th, the Hilo Fish Company issued a recall of Tuna that was sourced from the Sustainable Seafood Company and the Santa Cruz Seafood, Inc company, which had tested positive for the hepatitis A virus.
The CDC reports they are currently unaware of any illness linked to the contamination, however they have issued an alert for any unvaccinated person who many have come in to contact with the fish.
The fish was distributed to Texas, Oklahoma, and California. A list of establishments was placed on the FDA websites, and stretches from Dallas to San Antonio, Houston, South Padre Island, New Braunfels, and many cities in between.
With many families on vacation and traveling, the FDA is advising families and restaurant owners as to what they should do to remain safe.
