BRENHAM BUILDING STANDARDS COMMISSION MEETING MONDAY

  

The City of Brenham Building Standards Commission is meeting at 5:15 today (Monday) to consider a request from the developer of the new Blinn College dormitories.

Infrastructure Associates, the general contractor for the new Blinn dormitories on Old Mill Creek Road, is asking permission to use Romex wiring in the dorm units.  Brenham’s electrical code prohibits the use of nonmetallic sheathed cables, so the contractor is asking for a variance.  City of Brenham staff are recommending that the request be denied, and that the dorms be constructed with electrical metal conduit systems throughout, as all previous dormitory buildings.

The Building Standards Commission is meeting is in City Council chambers on the second floor of the Brenham Municipal Building.
