LA GRANGE MAKES ARREST IN FAKE CURRENCY CASE
After confiscating more than $7,500 in fake currency, including most of that coming from a single suspect who handed the money over to authorities, the La Grange Police arrested 39 year-old David Earl Williams on Friday for forgery after he attempted to pass the currency at Al’s Food Mart.
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath has stated more related arrests will be forthcoming.
On June 14, Gilbreath suggested more than $2,000 of the fake $100 and $20 bills may still be in circulation in and around the area.
The $100 fake bills are marked “for motion picture only.” The $20 bills, however, have been seem with Russian letters in the serial numbers according to Fayette County sources.
