STATE INVESTIGATING MISSING FUNDS AT “MISSION BRENHAM”
An investigation is underway into missing funds at Mission Brenham.
Brenham District Attorney Julie Renken confirmed that the investigation into missing funds is being conducted by the Brenham Police Department and Texas Rangers.
Renken’s office has turned over any prosecution of the case to the State’s Attorney General’s office. Renken has recused herself from the case due to her relationship with Mission Brenham as a volunteer and donor.
Officials with Mission Brenham have not commented on the case.
Mission Brenham hosts a number of youth programs and a summer camp called Jesus and Me (JAM), which faced danger of closure when the investigation began in May.
Authorities have not commented on how much money had allegedly been mishandled, but due to financial issues, Mission Brenham had to turn over control of the JAM Acdemy to Champions Fellowship Church.
